towels and wip

on my first "real" day of vacation i spent an awful amount of money in our local quilt-shop: mostly on rulers and cutter-blades but i also got this little piece of orange/white fabric (Michal Sparks for R.Kaufman, "New Traditions) on sale.

Also on sale were the surprisingly matching towels with the great name "Summer Splash" in dark pink and mandarine (!). And thats not badly translated, it´s what the company calles them themselves.. They do look kind of tasty. Maybe i get some more..

and here we have some real work in progress: first attempts to make half-square triangles. I obviousloy got the idea over at the well-known and most talented Rita from Red Pepper Quilts (please go and take a look at that stunning work this woman does - it is really amazing!!).
The sizes of both blocks do not match, i know, and i would go for 1 color per "ring", but i am not too sure if the whole thing is not to much nature-colored solids/unis for me..
what do you think??

i even whipped up a sloppy looking draft of a pattern.. :-)

"easily obsessed" will be written on my tombstone, i know..
