hi basket



yes, another fabric basket.
i uses another great tutorial from Elziabeth Hartman from Oh, Fransson! for SewMamaSew for the patchwork parts.
It can be found here and it is a great way to use up some pretty scraps.

first i cut a lot of little pieces (2") of fabric, ironed them on fusible lining (carefully) and sewed the seams by folding the fabric. very easy, very effective.
after cutting the seams open and ironing them open it looked like this:

then i added a red linen panel for the bottom part of the basket, and quilted all three panel to some left over cotton batting.

you can see the quilting better on the back side, the wonky part on the linen won´t be very visible after finishing the basket.
quilting the patchwork parts quite narrow gave the sides of the basket a nice sturdyness.

so after sewing the outer basket plus the red linen lining it looks like this:
