gramas garden quilt

this quilt was even done before the value quilt. it is an easter present for my sister, she got it today so i can show it to you now.
i made up the pattern myself and yes, although i am not too fond of too much color i am certainly not afraid of busy fabric designs :-)

i love this quilt, it has some oldfashioned thing about it: the quite soft red of the borders, the traditional blocks.
and some polka dots never hurt, eh?? :-)





both borders are made with Rosalie Quinlan fabrics from the Grandmothers Garden line, like lots of other parts of the quilt.



details on the cypress block and one of the five evening stars. for the star i chose a pretty motiv from the Quinlan fabric as center and put some tiny little cherries around it. the check inside the cypress block are from the Sweet Treats line by Darlene Zimmerman, the red solid ist Kona Cottons rich red.



the blocks are called evening stars, cypresses, windmills and louisianas plus some simpler blocks.



the backing is made of some sweet cherry fabric on the right and some Quinlan pieces on the right. in the middle there are some test-blocks surrounded by a sweet Moda print in pink which fits just fine.
