union jack with polka dots

can you see the difference?
union jack - a bit wrong
the one on top is the right one, the other one my first try with mistakes, which i proudly blogged about already just to take everything back :-)

anyways: totally worth all the work, isn´t it?
i especially love the polka dots which i just chose because i don´t have any white fabric.
the block is a bit smaller than the pattern suggested because i had to cut off too much of the edges to straighten them (thanks to my poor little-piece-piecing skills..)

the blue is "ocean" and the red simply "red" by Robert Kaufmanns Kona Cotton.
the paper-piecing pattern is from Lynne (thanks!) and you can find it here plus a tutorial how to do it. i obviously did not use the tut but i totally can recommend the pattern!!

i still like paper-piecing a lot but i think i will try to look for blocks which don´t have that little pieces - that´s not really my cup of tea..

have a nice weekend!
