Spicing up the Kitchen-Swap
i travelled, again, and worked out of Munich for some days, and coming home on Saturday night after the plane was delayed, the right S-Bahn did not go and - to even top this - my bus home just drove by the bus stop where i was waiting. so after running with my suitcase to the next stop to catch it i was really happy to be home again..
after weeks like this i am not able to do very much on Sunday, but with a deadline coming closer i had to start with my project for the spicing up the kitchen swap.
i made this potholder because my secret partner loves aqua - and hopefully has a soft spot for polka dots, too..
the tutorial for the potholder is by Martha Stuart, but i have to warn you a bit: she left out some steps (which you can guess, so that´s ok) and it´s quite big (enlarging the pattern just up to 150% might be enough, but i do like big potholders).
when i first tried it it was a different tutorial (edit: it was a different tut indeed! try this one of the purl bee, which is much better than the original) or i did not care for the details that much, and both potholders i made with it turned out fine.
here´s the "old" one i made in April last year:
another tutorial i used was one from Oh, Fransson! on how to sew little fabric pieces together, you can find it here. very useful for scraps.
i hope my partner likes my uber-sweetness for this gift, i will make another piece for this swap which will be a bit more modern and straight.
enjoy your week!!
