post summit swap miniquilt - bloggers quiltfestival

"Seriously??" says the fish, "I am very HTF*.."

Miniquilt "Magenknurren"

last night i finished this little mini, as part of the post summit swap: we try to keep some of the spirit and the mojo of the summit by swapping miniquilts and pouches with people we met at the sewing summit in Salt Lake City in October 2011.

During the summit in the marvelous minis-class, held by super-wonderful Amanda, i learned "the hard way" that a quilt doesn´t have to have a binding.

To tell you the whole, a tiny bit embarassing story:

At one point Amanda asked the class severeal questions like "Does a quilt needs to be handsewn to be a quilt?", answers all over of course "No!", "Does a quilt needs to be handquilted to be a quilt?", again the answer of the auditorium was of course "No".
And then she asked "Does a quilt need a binding to be a quilt?" and friends i don´t know why i did not get this concept of rethorical questions by then, anyways, everybody - of course - said "No", and i said "Yes!". Loud enough to be heard very nicely throughout the room.. :-)

After the laughing had stopped and some joke about being German was  made (although i don´t think this is a german thing, it´s just me!!) i knew i learned something important :-)

So let´s hope that the Quilt-Police won´t bang on my door, as this is my entry for the Bloggers´ Quiltfestival, hosted of course again by the wonderful Amy!

miniquilt "tummy rumbles" back

I just love this. It is different from most of the quilts. I think the definition of a quilt is a top, a back, and something in the middle of them, all stitched together. No binding requirements.

Great job.
