scraps!

Today i want to show you, how i organise my scraps. They live in a pretty big dotted shopping bag, up on my shelf (in the striped one behind it are wadding/batting scraps).

Heute will ich euch mal zeigen, wie ich meine scraps organisiere. Sie "leben" in einer schönen, vor allem schön großen gepunkteten Einkaufstasche, oben in meinem Regal (in der gestreiften Tasche dahinter sind übrigens meine Vlies-Rest- und Randstücke).

And here are all my little scrap packages, sorted by color. Taking them out of the bag feels a bit like handling illegal substances.. :-)

Und hier sind alle meine kleinen scrap-Päckchen, sortiert nach Farbe. Sie auszupacken fühlt sich etwas nach dem Umgang mit verbotenen Substanzen an.. :-)



The only bag i don´t sort by color are my linen-scraps which i keep separate, this way i have all my quilting weight scraps ready to go. So everything else i sort by color, and the pieces are mostly too small to fold them up nicely (i have a little stash of those elsewhere).
I don´t mind the different sizes - i know some people cut their scraps to certain sizes but that would be a) too much work it think and b) i feel i have more choices to incorporate scraps when they are not cut down in any way. And it is a lot of fun to search through the different packages on the hunt for the right color and the right size, i find that very inspiring.
The main thing which keeps me from sorting by size, too, is that i would have to decide which sizes i would want and that i would need yet another way to organize my scraps.

How do you organize your scraps?? Any good tips out there?

Die einzigen scraps, die ich nicht nach Farbe sortiere, sind die Leinen-Reste, die gehen komplett extra. So habe ich alle meine quilting-Stoffe und -Farben schön parat. Es geht also, wie gesagt, nach Farbe und die Stücke zeichnen sich dadurch aus, dass man sie nicht mehr schön zusammenfalten kann (Stücke in der Größe hab ich nochmal extra).
Ich finde die unterschiedlichen Größen der Reste nicht schlimm - ich weiß, dass einige Leute ihre scraps gleich in bestimmte Größen zurechtschneiden, aber das wäre mir a) zuviel Arbeit und b) so habe ich doch (gefühlt) mehr Möglichkeiten, Stücke einzuarbeiten, da sie nicht schon irgendwie kleiner geschnitten wurden. Außerdem macht es Spaß, die kleinen Stapel nach der richtigen Farbe und der richtigen Größe zu durchsuchen, das ist doch sehr inspirierend :-)
Hauptsächlich würde mich an einer Größensortierung aber stören, dass ich mich für Größen entscheiden müsste, und dann noch mehr Lagerorganisation bräuchte.

Wie organisiert ihr eure scraps?? Hat jemand gute Tipps und Tricks?
